Meet The Team

Mark C. Minichiello is Chief Executive Officer and has been associated with Quincy Cass Associates and QCA Capital Management since 2004. Prior to joining Quincy Cass Associates, Mark was a portfolio manager and member of the investment committee of The Occasio Fund and acted as a sub-advisor to the Hatteras Alternative Mutual Funds. He is a founding principal of Spin-Off Advisors, a Chicago-based specialty research firm.

In 1998-2004, Mark was known in the investment community for his insightful commentary on Spin-Offs. For five years until 2009, he co-published “The Distressed and Turnaround Situation Report,” a monthly advisory report featuring information on reorganizations and distressed securities. At Spin-Off Advisors, he co-produced “Spin-Off Research,” a monthly research advisory. The media have sought out Mark for observations about spin-off situations and have quoted him extensively in print and broadcast. In 2010, Mark wrote two articles for Forbes entitled, “What If?”, a guide for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago with concentrations in Finance, Accounting and Strategic Management. His professional designations approved by Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Options Principal, General Securities Representative, General Securities Principal, Registered Investment Advisor and Investment Banking Representative.

In Mark’s spare time he is an animal rights advocate, a member of In Defense of Animals and supports numerous animal causes. He is an avid runner, completing over twenty-five marathons on four continents. Deanna joined Quincy Cass as the Chief Investment Officer in 2022, its centennial year. With close to 20 years in the global investment industry, Deanna’s past experience includes founding roles in the launch of two global macro hedge funds as well as positions on both the Buy and Sell sides including equity research at Macquarie Securities in Sydney, Australia and sales at Credit Suisse and STOXX in Singapore as well as positions at boutique financial consulting firms. Most recently Deanna was at Ballina Capital in Manhattan Beach, CA. Deanna holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario as well as a BSc from McGill University. She is a CFA Charterholder, and a member of the CFA Society of Los Angeles as well as a member of the Women in Institutional Investments Network (WIIIN), 100 Women in Finance and Women in ETFs. Deanna was born in Canada but is now a happy Californian where she enjoys skiing, surfing and camping, as well as collecting Art. In her spare time, you can find Deanna starting to retrain for long distance running races with her daughter Lily or walking with her husband Matt on the Hermosa Strand or relaxing to a lovely Sound Bath.  [Printable Profile]

daniel r. guay, cpa
Chief Financial Officer

Dan Guay is Chief Financial Officer of Quincy Cass Associates. Prior to joining Quincy Cass Associates, Dan was the Controller at Imperial Capital, LLC, a multi-state investment banking and brokerage firm headquartered in Los Angeles. Prior to joining Imperial Capital, Dan worked at various CPA firms in the Los Angeles area.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from Loyola Marymount University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Dan’s other professional designations include FINRA Registered Representative and a FINRA Financial and Operations Principal.

JENS SPITTA
Senior Wealth Advisor

Jens Spitta was born in Germany, and is a Senior Wealth advisor at Quincy Cass Associates fluent in the German language. He has spent the majority of his career with Quincy Cass Associates as an investment analyst and portfolio advisor to individuals and high net worth families.

Jens enjoys traveling the world, reading a good book, watching a great movie, and spending quality time with friends and interesting people. He is an avid gardener and often spends his weekends tending to his yard. He also finds cooking to be a real hobby. Above all, he always liked what he was doing.

Lupe Benitez
Director of Client Services

Lupe Benitez joined Quincy Cass Associates in 1992, and is our Director of Client Services. She acts as an integral liaison between QCA clients and back-office operations at National Financial Services and third-party services. Lupe is involved in every step of the new accounts process whether individual, family, or small business related. Clients can be assured that she oversees pre-account and post-opening support.

In Lupe’s spare time she is an animal rights advocate supporting numerous animal causes. Between shuttling her daughter to dance class on weekends, you can find her walking her fuzzy children Spike, Jimmy and Fuzzy the Rabbit, reading a good book, or gardening in her yard.

Rebecca Terrazas
Executive Vice President of Partnerships

Rebecca Terrazas joined Quincy Cass Associates in 1974, and has held numerous positions throughout her employment with our firm. In Rebecca’s current capacity as Executive Vice President of Partnerships, she is responsible for the QCA Real Estate Division overseeing real estate operations and personnel. Ms. Terrazas serves as corporate secretary of Quincy Cass Associates.

In Rebecca’s spare time you can find her listening to a good audio book, but don’t let the audio book fool you because she is no couch potato. Rebecca has become a fitness walker promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. She also has a fun side visiting the world’s favorite entertainment destination, Disneyland on her annual pass.

INDEPENDENT BOARD MEMBER

Brigadier General Driscoll began his relationship with Quincy Cass Associates serving as its first independent board member. Prior to joining the Quincy Cass Board of Directors, John served 33 years in service to the US Army and Army National Guard and retired in June 2022 as a Brigadier General commanding the 5,900 women and men of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. John is a combat veteran of Desert Shield/Storm, and is a people-focused strategic leader having served in every rank from lieutenant to brigadier general. John is very modest, giving credit for his success to all but himself. His greatest talents are his interpersonal skills and inclusive leadership style in tandem with his integrity. Brigadier General Driscoll is a lifelong learner with a particular interest in foreign affairs and business, which has led him to become a member of the Boston Committee on Foreign Relations and the Boston Economic Club. John also serves on the board of Western MA Red Cross, the advisory board of Skyline Nav AI, and is President of the Friends of the MA National Guard Museum. John is a graduate of the US Army Senior Leader Development Course, the US Army War College, the JFK School at Harvard General and Flag Officer Leadership and Homeland Security Courses, and Syracuse’s National Security Studies program in addition to several other professional military education courses. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and a MA in Defense Management from American Military University. [Printable Profile]
